They gave their lives,
willingly died,
so we could live
to forgive,
the wrongs endured
in that bloody war.

I salute them all
who answered the call,
left field and farm
to take up arms,

Against a foe
they didn’t know,
and sacrificed
their precious lives
so we’d be free
yes, you and me.

The gift they gave
we can never repay,
but the standards they set
we’ll never forget,

Thank you…

  1. Outside of some posters this year. I haven’t seen or remember someone taking the time to recognize our fallen men including myself.
Thanks veterans for your sacrifice and service.

    Thanks Paul

    • Just thinking about what they did, and still do, scares me Michael. I can’t imagine the terror they felt, and still they ‘did the right thing’ to give us the lives we now enjoy.

Good to see you my friend. 🙂

  2. Paul,

Thank you for this magnificent tribute to the bravery, so often overlooked and forgotten. The world has never really acknowledged the price given to secure a better life for many, generations later.

    • They were the bravest of the brave, Eileen. I’m not sure many nowadays would give their lives for others.
